  3. LOL. Saw those prawns and thought, someone's been to M&S, even before scrolling down to the yoghurt.

    The liver & bacon protein content is disgraceful. So, that's an infinitesimal amount of grey liver accompanied one lump of bacon, with potatoes, with side dish of potatoes. Super.

    Aren't you grateful you have Mrs TM to rescue your digestion and sanity?

    Thank goodness for Mrs TM! Nutrition AND taste!! YUM!!! Actually, I have some prawns in the freezer which need eating. Thai green curry is sounding good!

  8. Three cheers for Ms TM! The shrimps look nice and of course also the salmon bagel! I'd have opted for another yoghurt, a plain white natural one, but that's just me, as I do not like vanilla. Wishing you well from Styria! Barbara

  11. That grey liver shoe leather stuff looks quite revolting - like the worst kind of 1950s school meal. And liver is OK! When you get home, ask Mrs TM to fry a few onions, literally flash fry the liver then add a bit of balsamic vinegar and (wait for it!) a few sliced strawberries and some double cream. Trust me, it's wonderful! How about for your welcome home meal?

  12. I'm not a great fan of liver but that was the best choice on the menu. I do think the quantity of protein is pathetically minuscule. I don't believe for one moment that the food factory is fulfilling its specifications as laid down in its contract with the hospital trust. The samples the managers get to try when the company is tendering for the contract must be etirely different to the production line muck.

  13. You know, I look at these culinary accidents every day and think, HOW DARE the NHS tell us how to live, what to eat and drink, that we're all too fat and lazy, etc., when they serve stodge, with stodge on the side, followed by stodge and custard. Grrr.

  15. I love baked beans but wouldn't want them with a casserole - equally, the casserole already has potato in it so if there was a sufficient portion you wouldn't need a side of potato. The meat content is pathetic. I definitely think that that's below spec. Surely they have a team of NHS managers who monitor the food to check that it meets spec - obviously these managers come at the cost of a few nurses and doctors - but it's only a hospital, they aren't really needed.

    What tastebudless person would think of teaming liver and bacon sludge with baked beans?

    Still at least the protein in the beans made up for the lack of protein in the 'meat'.

  18. I am absolutely amazed that each and every meal comes with some dessert comprised of a baked good in sauce/pudding- whatever the Hell it is! I can't understand what they serve. It is awful and anyone would know it is awful and I haven't been at your blog long enough to get over it yet!

    I can't even think of one thing to say that might cheer you!

  21. Quite honestly it looks as though you're being fed wartime rations. If you got together a plate of what the week's rations were in the 1940s you'd be hard pressed to see much change.

    Their excuse would be that wartime rations never did anyone any harm but what they forget is the fact that you're on your own, in pain, and needing protein to mend - because medicine has advanced in nearly seventy years and it's clear what works best.

    This really is abysmal, TM. Thank God Mrs TM has come up trumps again and I'm so glad you've had her company and support today. Plus an M&S yoghurt - heaven. That brand is gorrrrjusssss. I particularly like the lemon curd one ..
