That's Feta cheese soup on toast with a nuclear drumstick and last weeks beans Yum
Yuk I have just noticed the purple mold growing on it
Oooo! I know this one ... it's chicken pie with creamed pumpkin. I think the green things might once have been ... beans. Does that make them has-beans?
Dear TMMain - Squashed swede with beans - whiskas chicken in gravy - not sure about the thing lurking below - a kitchen sponge I fear.Pudding - Easy - weetabix with custard!Best wishes from Cats' MotherPS thank you for the gruesome pics - sent me straight back to doing the accounts and concentrating on my work! Result for someone anyway.
I agree with the nuclear dumstick...(though it is likely pumpkin or carrot???) My first thought was immediately drumstick. That other stuff is supposed to be a hot chicken sandwich....gag!
I think that main is the worst I have seen!
Mashed sweet potato, beans and french country chicken for the main, weetabix and custard for desert?
There appears to be a giant croutonne floating in the chicken à la king and the puréed pumpkin [carrot?] can only have been squeezed into a drumstick shape through a giant cake-decoration nozzle.Like a curse laid for a joke by a god no longer worshipped.
i also thought it was a very strange drumstick lol check this out http://www.yachydda.co.uk/blog
Believe it or not... that meal was chicken pie, green beans and mashed carrot and swede. Tasted as good as it looked. The dessert was apple crumble and did contain a lot of apple. Best pudding so far.
The pudding looks relatively acceptable. What happened to the carrot and swede mash, it's almost like the crumble? From Mr Peacock, first name Drew aka Liam
Are you sure the white bits are not the cotton wool used to clean your leg wound?
Hi TM!I read up all yout blog pieces that you have put up since yesterday's evening game. I'm impressed by your leg photos. I was not really able to imagine this traction thing before, and it's difficult even now, because I have no idea about the pain involved; I hope they can subdue it sufficiently with painkiller drugs. Can you do some exercises like lifting your hips from the mattress? How do you keep your body (butt and shoulders) away from developing dumb spots that might even grow into sores?? It is a good thing that you can at least distract your mind with the internet and stay in touch with people that way!! and even raise public awareness of this hospital bingo food issue! there are some journalists who research things in an undercover sort of way, like presenting themselves as asylum seekers or something to find out things; I guess you'd never have choosen to present yourself as traction man and food tester there out of sheer nosy whim .. as apparently Sooz's salmons might do - but nonetheless you choose to put your experience to the common good. It fills me with awe, truly! Wishing you all the best of luck, greetings from Styria! It might have been the last summery day here today, quite hot, winds hailing from the Sahara. I was in fact sitting outside this midday on a cafè terrace in the sunshine and contemplating about wanting to flee the heat; but in the end I stayed outside hoping to preserve some of the warmth for the upcoming autumn. Be blessed! Hoping your wife will bring you another bagel, yoghurt and compote soon! Barbara
I fail to see the pie part of the chicken pie. Also, I thought the apple crumble was weetabix!
I too failed to see the pie. In NHS speak pie has a quite different meaning.
Hi, The dog just came in for his dinner and he had Iams with pate mixed in just for a treat. I wish now I had taken a photograph as it looked a lot more appetising than the ...... sorry I am trying to say pie but it just won't work when I think of the photo portrayed!! I am damned sure if I had put that lot in his bowl he would have gone off in a sulk. How many boxes of bananas and oranges do you need sending?Take care, Ruth
Hey TM, Have just walked in and my daughter has got the TV on and is watching Britain's best dish and someone made a chicken pie that is being slated. She has just rung a friend to tell them to look at your blog and watch the tv!!!!Take care
I see green beans...and well, after that I just don't have a clue! Ok, just gone back up and read the other comments and is that REALLY what passes for a pie?! Where's the 'pie' part? *confused*It truly warms my heart to see mine and everyone elses hard earned tax pounds are being spent like this!Mx
To be honest I thought that dayglo orange thing was a failed attempt at a kiev. Are they using paintball guns to serve the vegetables, I wonder? Might explain the randomness .. As for pie, or "pie" I know there are restrictions on ingredients and all that, but .. where's the pie bit. Or is it that thing that looks like bread that's been dropped by mistake into the washing up water and then squeezed out.At least you got some apple, even if you couldn't have a nice satisfying crunch .. I bet you would kill for a decent Waldorf salad.I have spoken to the salmon spokesfish up here and they are all apparently standing by in case your location and identity become known, although you may then of course be in the position of having more smoked salmon about your person than you can handle. I don't suppose the kittykat is into smoked salmon either, it being salty and all that ..?All agog to know what's for dinner tonight. No doubt served with a frightfully amusing little wine from the north side of the vineyard. Snort.
hey - come on, it's 7 o'clock - what's for dinner?
i really wish i could have guessed what that was . but i may print it out and send it to my daughter in adfghanastan to make her more gratefull for army food rhonda ,usa
Hi TM!Instead of growing your bone, next year you can grow a big pumpkin. Easier I should think. This past sunday the heaviest pumpkin of Austria was weighed, grown by a school boy, and the pumpkin weighs over 900 lbs.www.bigpumpkins.atwww.freewebs.com/egvga/Bye-bye.Whens supper?Barbara
Big internet connection problems. Managed to work around it by paying a king's ransom to buy 90 minutes of time from BT Openzone. That enabled me to download software for the vodafone dongle which needed reinstalling. You nearly lost traction Man...
oh no! that would have been dreadful! not as dreadful as your leg falling off or your person starving away, but still!! please whenever you shut the blog down, preferably because you're back on your feet, do take a solemn farewell from us, don't ever just vanish like a fadeout fog!!
I would never do that. This was just a major hitch. I updated some software and it didn't work. I had o find a way to get back on the internet to download a different version. Phew.
Thank goodness you managed to stay internetted!!! Easier than getting a decent meal in that place! I am not going to even comment on the orange stuff on that plate!
I bet after all that trauma you're ready for a good meal!Mx
That is one disgusting looking pie... Glad the weetabix was tasty!
don't get disconnected - I have had a horrible day, and this has made me laugh out loud - even my 16 year old who is hard to please found your blog amusing
I hear you can get free internet at McDonalds and now at Little Chef too. Bet it's quicker than that 3G dongle too. Mind you, who would want to suffer a McBurger or an Olympian breakfast for the superb offerings so lovingly served up at your bedside? ;-)Now my guess, without even looking to see the other guesses and your response was...'green' (well grey really), beans, chicken supreme and carrot puree. This followed by what looked like quite thick custard on this occasion with a fruit crumble.I'm sorry though, I just can't see that pie crust anywhere... I'll see if photo manager will let be blow the picture up to help me see it :-)btw, your leg looks very sore ... did I detect a slight bend in that pin through your leg?
I don't think there's a bend in the pin. Maybe barrel distortion on the camera lens.
